RE: Important Update on School Reopening

Dear families,

The Government of Alberta has introduced back-to-work legislation which would allow the resumption of regular classroom instruction. Once the legislation has been passed by the Legislature, all teachers will be required to return to work, and schools will reopen. We expect students will return to school sometime next week. We will notify you of a specific return to school date and reopening guidelines, once they become available.

We recognize that this has been a challenging time for students, families, and staff. The conclusion of job action will require a brief transition period as schools re-establish routines and programming.

We look forward to welcoming teachers and students back into classrooms and refocusing on what matters most — providing safe, caring, and high-quality learning experiences for every student. We encourage you to make arrangements for a return to school.

Thank you once again for your continued support and understanding during this period of transition. We want to reassure parents/guardians that we commit to timely communication as it becomes available.

Sincerely,

Michael Borgfjord, Superintendent

Black Gold School Division
